INSP, with its headquarters in Scotland, actively encourages and supports the setting up of street papers worldwide to create opportunities for people living in poverty. Established in 1994 with 5 members, INSP has grown to 89 street papers members across 37 countries. The charity is the only network in the world which unites a broad, global reach of independent street papers that speak for a more equal and just world, reaching over 32 million readers worldwide every year. As well as offering dignified employment, our projects help people back into society and take them from a place where they are neglected, unhealthy, frightened and alone, often from a very young age. INSP has already supported in excess of 250,000 homeless people worldwide to get off the streets and back into work. The idea behind a street paper is simple yet powerful: a homeless or other poor person buys a copy of the magazine at a price of 50% or lower than the cover price it sells to the public, keeping the proceeds.
