The Care Leavers Foundation supports those in need brought up in care with some of the basic needs in life that others can expect to get from a loving family. Our modest but essential grants support aspiration and ameliorate hardship. As well as practical support through our grantmaking we send a very simple message that somebody cares about those who have left care and have to make their way in the world with no family to support them and no one to lend a helping hand when things go wrong. Most adults in the UK leave home for good around the age of 25 years. Many children have to leave care and face all the responsibilities of adult life, finding work, paying bills, being a householder at 16 years of age. Could you imagine waving goodbye to your children at such a young age, and expecting them to survive alone with little support and no turning back?
